SUMMER TRADITIONS CONTINUE AT THE OCEAN COUNTY FAIR

IT’S AS MUCH a part of the summer season at the Jersey Shore as a stroll on the boardwalk or a refreshing dip in the Ocean.

The Ocean County fair opens Tuesday, July 14th with rides, games, animals and more.

“We encourage everyone to stop by the fair and enjoy the family entertainment,” said Freeholder Joseph H. Vicari. “There really is something for everyone.”

The fair runs through Sunday, July 19 at the Robert J. Miller Airpark, Route 530 in Berkeley Township.

The Board of Freeholders hosts a tent each year and under it will be plenty of information regarding county programs and services, Vicari said.

Individual departments that will be featured include Juvenile Services, Human Services, Emergency Management, Vo-Tech schools, Health Department, Solid Waste Management/Recycling and the Planning Department. Other departments will also be providing information throughout the week.

“This is a great opportunity to stop by and learn about the services Ocean County provides,” said Freeholder Director John C. Bartlett Jr.

The Ocean County Master Gardeners, for the Ocean County Board of Agriculture, will also be hosting a number of open shows at the fair.

Open shows include crafts, needlework, art, cake decorating, foods, honey and beeswax, horticulture, floral design and photography.

“Bring your best work to enter in the competition, or just visit the tents and check out some of the winning entries,” said Vicari, who is liaison to the Agricultural Board.

Fair hours are:
    • Tuesday, July 14 – 5 pm to 11 pm.
