AGING HEALTHY HIGHLIGHTED DURING SEPTEMBER
TOMS RIVER - Ocean County will kickoff a month-long celebration on Sept. 1 highlighting the importance of taking care of ones body and mind in order to
age in a healthy way.
"We are celebrating healthy aging month during September," said Freeholder Joseph H. Vicari, Chairman of the Office of Senior Services. "Good health
means a good quality of life. And, we want to help the more than 160,000 living in Ocean County to maintain healthy habits."
Ocean County will kick off the month long celebration with a "meet and greet" at the County Connection at the Ocean County Mall, Toms River. Residents
and visitors alike are encouraged to drop by the storefront near JC Penny at 10:30 a.m. to meet Freeholder Vicari, Jane Maloney, Director of the Ocean
County Office of Senior Services and also representatives from Senior Services Health EASE Wellness Coalition.
"This is a great opportunity to learn about the fall line-up of free HealthEASE programs to help you "Age Strong & Live Long', everyday of the year,"
Vicari said. "It's never too soon or too late for that matter to develop a healthier lifestyle."
Research proven HealthEASE programs include self-management of ongoing illness, non-aerobic exercise, walking, mind-body, health education, health
screenings and volunteer opportunities.
Programs include:
Take Control of Your Health, which helps people learn strategies and techniques to manage their lives when living with ongoing, chronic health
conditions. Families and caregivers are invited to join in. This is an interactive program that mixes practical information with fun. Programs are
scheduled in many locations this fall. Contact Senior Services HealthEASE 732-929-2091 or Louanne Kane 732-349-8389 for information or registration.

"Ocean County has many safe, scenic places to walk," Vicari said.
