FREEHOLDERS SPONSOR MARCH 31 JOB FAIR

CLOSE TO 50 public agencies and private businesses are expected to recruit potential employees at a March 31 job fair co-sponsored by the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

“We are working with businesses and government offices looking for qualified, talented workers in Ocean County,” said Freeholder Joseph H. Vicari. “I encourage anyone looking for work to attend this free job fair.”

The job fair will be held at the Health and Human Performance Building #19 on the Toms River campus of Ocean County College from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Pre-registration and directions to the campus are available at the Ocean County Planning Department website www.planning.co.ocean.nj.us/ed-news.htm.

“We are not going to cut off registration before the event,” Vicari said. “Anyone interested can also register at the door the day of the job fair.”

Vicari, who is also liaison to the Ocean County Workforce Investment Board, said at least one company will be conducting immediate interviews at the Job Fair.

“This is an opportunity for both businesses and residents looking for work,” Vicari said.

Among the vendors at the job fair will be several federal agencies, federal contractors, health care providers and companies offering sales positions.

The U.S. Census Bureau will also attend.

“There are still 2,000 temporary census positions that need to be filled in Ocean County alone,” Vicari said.

The job fair will also host a variety of seminars, including workshops on resume writing, entrepreneurship, job searching, education and training.

Freeholder Director James F. Lacey said the job fair is part of the county’s effort to combat unemployment.

“We’re not going to see a true recovery until people get back to work,” Lacey said. “Hopefully, this job fair will help some of our residents begin a new career.”

The job fair is also co-sponsored by the Ocean County Department of Planning, Ocean County Workforce Investment Board, Ocean County College, Center for Women and Work at Rutgers University and the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
