Discover Ocean County
State Parks

Ocean County boasts three state parks:

Island Beach State Park is a modern-day miracle - nine miles of natural dune beaches nestled between Barnegat Bay and the Atlantic Ocean in the middle of the mose densely populated area state in the country. It offers life-guarded beaches, nature programs, surf fishing, windsurfing, kayaking and nature and interpretative centers. Truly a natural blessing that has been preserved for all to enjoy.

Barnegat Lighthouse State Park on Long Beach Island is one of the state's smallest. Climb the 217-steps to enjoy a view of Island Beach State Park to the north and, on a clear day, as far as Atlantic City to the South. Wildlife tends to "hang out" in adjacent Barnegat Inlet and can be viewed from the 1/4 mile handicapped accessible walkway. "Old Barney" with its red top and white bottom in a New Jersey icon.

Double Trouble State Park is the northeastern gateway to the famed and internationally recognized Pine Barrens. An agriculture and industrial sawmill village under reconstruction, it also borders Cedar Creek where hikers and kayaks cross paths.
