I thought that I would focus on the ORIGINAL Big wheel in Seaside, as well as its history in this update. I acquired the original story from my son Kyle, who is now 5+. As we were looking through our pictures, he wanted to know more about this particular Ferris Wheel. He asked me, quite frankly!!! " If Seaside has so many BIG RIDES NOW! , Why didn't they keep the Ferris Wheel with the SHEDS ???? I can only hope to explain to everyone, NOW, just what I told him. Here Goes.

I thought you would like to see The First ORIGINAL BIG WHEEL on the New Jersey Coastline. This was originally featured at Steeplechase Park, in Coney Island. It was a mainstay in Seaside for only a few years in the early 70s.
The first picture was the original place that it resided, Coney Island's Steeplechase Park. The next picture is the first year that it arrived in Seaside Heights. It was not until it was placed on Seaside's boardwalk that anyone truly saw this emense wheel, for all of it's history as well as splendor.
The HI-Slide, featured on the Midway, behind The Big Wheel, had to compete with the other two Slides on the opposing piers, The Fun Slide ( Funtown U.S.A. ) & The Niagara Falls ( Casino Pier ) None of the three ever succeded.
One fell short of ride revenue, One fell short of expectations, and the other fell into the ocean.
